Born May 3, 1924 in Kõrgesaare, Hiiumaa, Estonia, Laine passed away in the early morning of April 23; her soul at peace. She will be remembered as gentle, wise, caring and with a surprising spark that endeared her to family and friends. She is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Anne-Reet (Terry) Light, grandson Kevin (Zoë) great-granddaughter Zara Ema, granddaughter Heather and son Rein (Carol) Paesüld. Laine was happiest in her garden planting seeds and helping them grow. She also treasured the past 37 winters that she spent with family and friends in the Arizona and Mexico sun. Laine survived many serious illnesses in her lifetime. Her strong will and spirit now lives on in so many of us who will miss her dearly.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at St. Peter’s Estonian Lutheran Church 6520 Oak st., Vancouver at 11:00 am followed by a reception in the church hall. Graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby at 2:00 pm. Donations may be made to BC Children’s Hospital.
