

Lee Ah Wong (nee Mah), of Vancouver, British Columbia was born on January 14, 1939 in Tai Shan, Province of Guangdong, China, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Lee Ah is survived by her husband Ah Yau (Leo) and her two sons, Keith and Vincent. Also surviving are her two granddaughters Nanami and Rin. Lee Ah and Ah Yau met in Hong Kong in the early 1960s, married in 1965, immigrated to Canada in 1966 and travelled to Watson Lake, Yukon. With friends from Hong Kong, Lee Ah and Ah Yau travelled to Vancouver, B.C. where they settled down and had their first son, Keith and later her second son, Vincent. Lee Ah opened and operated a grocery store called Wong's Market located near Granville Island in the early 1970s. After having Vincent, she sold the family grocery store and attended Vancouver Vocational Institute (now called Vancouver Community College) to further her career. She received a certificate in Hairdressing and found a hairdressing career at Kopernik Lodge. Lee Ah worked there for 20 years before she retired. For pleasure, she often visits Queen Elizabeth Park for fresh air and community centres to practice Tai Chi and led a quiet life. She was a very caring mother and wife for the Wong Family and will be greatly missed. A visitation for Lee Ah Wong will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC V5G 3M1. Her funeral service will occur Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM. Entombment will occur following the funeral in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
