Leonor David Canlas

We regretfully announce the passing of Leonor Canlas (nee David) on December 15, 2021, at the age of 62. Leonor had a difficult battle with breast and lung cancer and is finally at rest. She will be forever loved and forever remembered.

Leonor is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Alfredo Canlas. She is lovingly remembered by daughters Chiqui (Jeff); Callen (Rommell) and son Jonh (Margaret). As well as her grandchildren Jayber, Jacquiline, Kayten and Caleb and many brothers; sisters; nieces, nephews and friends worldwide.

Leonor was born in the Philippines on October 10, 1959. As the youngest sibling, she quickly learned how to hold her own and exerted her independence at a young age. She then met the love of her life Alfredo, and they forged a life in Canada with Leonor coming first to establish herself as a caregiver. This resulted in Leonor commencing a valuable community service by opening her own daycare which she ran for many years and molded young minds. Her greatest pride and joy was her family which she ensured developed into strong adults and was blessed with four amazing grandchildren. To visit her home the first question would be “did you eat” and this meant you were in for a treat as she expressed love through her food as well.

Throughout her entire life, Leonor held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. Through her faith she waged a brave battle with cancer, however she was taken at a very young age to be with the Lord. Leonor will be profoundly missed by all. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, a kind-hearted, loyal friend, aunt, sister, and wife. Leonor was truly a woman with a “big heart”, and now she is at peace. She will be sadly missed, but we take comfort knowing that she will be looking down on us all.

Visitation will be held at Ocean View Funeral Home - 4000 Imperial St, Burnaby, BC on December 27, 2021, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.

Catholic mass service will be held at St. Theresa's Parish - 5146 Laurel St, Burnaby, BC on December 28, 2021, at 10:30 am.

Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park - 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC. at 1:00 pm.

Flowers may be forwarded to Ocean View Funeral Home no later than 4pm Dec 27th. These will be brought to her final resting place.
