Born and raised in Paranaque, Philippines, as a young woman she worked at La Perla Cigarette Factory with her sister Zenaida. She formed a lot of friendships in her years working there, and even after many years living in Canada she often visited those old friends. She would help out any friends who needed it. Lolita was a very generous and charitable person. She was kind to everyone and always ready to support/help others. Because of this, Lolita had many friends from all walks of life and was seen as an adoptive mother or Tita by many people (friends of her children, nephews, nieces and distant relatives).
She was a very social person but also loved to spend quiet and solitary time in the garden caring for her favorite collection of exotic orchids and roses she had at her home in the Philippines. This hobby continued when she moved to Canada, but changed her garden to include native bright colored flowering plants.
She was married to Capt. Judelio Taleon, father of all her children. He preceded her in death in 1966. Predeceased by her sisters Zenaida and Nena, and brothers Martin and Pepe. Lolita will be lovingly remembered by her children Cynthia, Alexander (Angie), Benhur (Raquel), Dina (Toby), her grandchildren; Karen, Alexis, Nicole, Robyn, Maya, Judelio and her husband, Peter Lopez, whom she shared over 40 years of life together.
A funeral is scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2020 at Ocean View, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby BC V5J 1A4. There will be a celebration of life to be held at a later date as the funeral is limited to immediate family only at this time due to the restrictions at the site.
