Man Kheong Chia

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Poon Siew (Grace) Chia; children Karl (Doreen) Chia and Jenny (Gary) Chia; grandchildren Kameron Chia, Danika Chia, Hudson Wong and Madeline Wong. He is also survived by his siblings Alan Chan, Choi Wan Chan, Siew Tho Chan, and Siew Hoong (Quincy) Chan, and many relatives and long-time friends.

Man Kheong grew up in Kuala Belait, Brunei. He married Poon Siew in 1975 and together they moved to Vancouver, Canada that same year where they settled and grew their family.

Man Kheong was a strong man who managed to beat nasopharyngeal cancer and continued to live cancer free for 20+ years after his diagnosis. He had many interests - he loved biking, listening to music, spending time with family and friends, playing with his grandchildren, meeting up with friends for a game of ping pong or for a cup of coffee. He is fondly remembered as a fun-loving, hardworking, loyal, generous, loving and quirky father, grandfather, brother and friend.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time. They also would like to extend their thanks to the staff at VGH's Leon Blackmore Pavilion for their utmost care in his final days.

A viewing will be held at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023 at Ocean View Funeral Home, in Burnaby, BC.
