Maria Lucarino

September 19, 1928 – May 2, 2025

With heavy hearts and endless love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maria. Surrounded by the love and comfort of her family, Maria passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2025.

Maria will be forever loved and deeply missed by her children, Tina (Domenic), Joe (Anita), Luisa, Angelo (Trish), adored nephew, Pasquale (Giovanna), and treasured grandchildren, Daniella (Anthony), Adam, Nicholas (Leanne), Nicole (Chris), Alisha (Rodney), Marco (Brenda), Marisa and Sonia. She was a proud and loving bisnonna to 8 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Giuseppina, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends in both Canada and Italy.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 71 years, Nicolino, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and devotion, as well as her dear parents, Michele and Nunziatella and her cherished siblings, Rosina, Domenico, Antonio, Michele, Giuseppina and Settimio.

Our mother was the heart of our family — a woman of unwavering strength, quiet grace and boundless love. She devoted her life to her family, nurturing us with gentle hands and a tender spirit. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in everything she taught us and the precious memories we hold dear. Her love will forever live in our hearts.

We will forever be grateful to Mom’s caregivers, Wana and Grace for the amazing kindness and compassion they gave to Mum. In addition, we truly appreciate the unwavering support from Vancouver Coastal Health. Thank you to Maricel, Agatha, Gina, Yuli, Thelma and Dominga—your warmth and care meant so much to us.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 525 Slocan Street, Vancouver. Entombment to follow at the Abbey, Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice in her honour would be greatly appreciated.
