Maria Rosa Vinci, age 64 of Vancouver, British Columbia, passed away on February 20, 2024, after a valiant, heroic, and courageous battle with cancer.
Maria was born on October 11, 1959, to Giuseppe Morabito and Giuseppina Amato. She was a sweet, compassionate, and loving child who stole the hearts of all around her. As a natural conversationalist, she made friends easily. Her ability to comfort, soothe, and relate to anyone that she came in contact with was one of her many endearing and beautiful qualities.
After graduating high school, Maria married Domenic Vinci. They built their lives together, and spent wonderful times travelling to tropical destinations, including an astounding seven times to Hawaii. Maria worked in the audit department at the Royal Bank of Canada, and was renowned for her exceptional customer service, detail-orientedness, and hardworking ethic. At the age of 28, Maria transitioned from work to full-time motherhood, and had her daughter, Michelle Vinci.
Maria was an outstanding and exceptional mother. She channeled immense love and devotion to her daughter, which was evident through the beautiful birthdays she planned for her, the heartwarming Christmases, and all the in-between moments of support, kindness, and understanding throughout the years. Maria and her daughter always had a close bond, and a very special relationship.
Maria loved her family, friends, and many dear pets that she had throughout the years. In her childhood, she had dogs, cats, and even chickens running around her home at 1st Avenue and Commercial. As an adult, she adored her time with her beloved dogs, Suzy, Sheeba, and Miko at 33rd and Nanaimo.
Maria was predeceased by her parents, Giuseppe Morabito and Giuseppina Amato, her aunt who became a motherly figure to her, Caterina Zappavigna, and mother-in-law, Paolina Vinci. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Vinci, daughter-in-law Yuka Iwane, husband Domenic Vinci, and recent life partner, Suresh Parmar.
Special thanks to all the caring nurses and doctors at Mount St. Joseph hospital and St. Paul's hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to BC Cancer.
