Marlene Ruth Anderson (nee Stubelt) August 13, 1941 – October 9, 2023 Marlene passed peacefully at Langley Hospice after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Noranda, Quebec to Robert F. and Margaret Stubelt (nee Wright). She lost her father at a young age as he was killed in WW2. Her mother moved Marlene and her brother Robert C. Stubelt to BC’s lower mainland, eventually settling in New Westminster. As an adult she lived in Edmonton AB, Toronto ON, as well as Eugene OR and Los Angeles CA, finally settling in Vancouver BC in the mid 1970’s. Marlene had several jobs throughout her life, she was most proud of the time she spent working for the Canadian Club at EXPO 86. She loved to travel and had a particular passion for gambling so naturally she found herself working for The Great Canadian Casino Company as a dealer and eventually, Supervisor, where she retired after more than 20 years. She then relocated to Langley BC to be closer to her mother and other family members. Marlene was predeceased by her father Robert F. Stubelt, mother Margaret Petruk and her brother Robert C. Stubelt. She will be missed by her sister-in-law, Bette Stubelt, nephew Robert K. Stubelt (James), nieces Lori-Anne Ciammaichella (Marco) and Cheryl-Lynne Cawdry (George) as well as great nephews Anthony, Daniel and Jaydan and great niece Breanna and many cousins and friends. To honour Marlene’s wishes there will be a small private service. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Langley Hospice Society. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Langley Hospice for the care, kindness and dignity with which they treated Marlene.
