Marta Luigia Bortignon

September 12, 1931 – June 25, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marta Bortignon. Marta passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025 at the age of 93. She is survived by her loving family, sons Louie (Delia), Ernie (Rossana), Roger (Paula); grandchildren Brandon (Devon), Raquel (Matthew), Brian (Christie), Christina, Kristen (Dominic) and Cassandra, great grandchildren Nico, Keely, Evyana and Nolan, many cousins, nephews and nieces both in Italy and British Columbia. Marta is predeceased by her devoted husband of 59 years, Giovanni, her parents Ernesto and Carolina and brothers Marcello, Bruno and Federico. Marta was born in Salvarosa of Castelfranco, Veneto, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1956.

She was the heart and soul of our family - the one we turned to for guidance, comfort and strength. She will be forever remembered for her generous heart, loving spirit, sharp wit and infectious sense of humour. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family and friends, and most especially her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

An exceptional homemaker, Mom found great joy in preparing delicious meals for those she loved. Her signature dishes and baked treats were the highlight of countless family gatherings.

Her loving nature, devotion to family, and unwavering strength will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Our family wishes to thank all the staff at AgeCare Carlton for the kindness and support given to our mom during her short stay there.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 555 Slocan St. Vancouver, BC on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Parish.
