It is with heavy hearts and happy memories that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and nonna, Mary Crema, at the age of 90. Mary was predeceased by the love of her life, best friend and husband of 58 years, Lorenzo Crema. Mary leaves behind her five children and ten grandchildren, who were the light of her life: Larry (Paola Netto, Francesca, Caterina), Kathryn (Grant Murray, Hannah, Nicholas), Lorraine (Todd Shewfelt, Matthew, Gabriel), Laura (Sam Black, Seraphina, Luca), and Michael (Nora Leerhsen, Viola, Lorenzo). She is also survived by her sister Helen (Frank) and sister-in-law Carolyn (predeceased by Nick). Mary was born in Vancouver to Croatian immigrants Nikola and Katarina Jurincic. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Nick. She grew up on Oxford Street in East Vancouver and attended Hastings Elementary School before graduating from Vancouver Technical Secondary School. As a child and young woman, Mary loved school, reading, and sports. She began her career at BC Tel and later became the bookkeeper for her husband's plumbing business after starting her family. Mary was an excellent cook with a well-known sweet tooth. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and shared joy—no one ever left her home hungry, and everyone was eager to bring her a treat to enjoy. Above all, Mary put family first. She was a constant, loving presence at dance recitals, music concerts, school events, and countless games—cheering from the sidelines for field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer and baseball. She was the first person everyone wanted to talk to when they had good news to share and the first person they went to when they were feeling down and needed encouragement. She would drop everything to celebrate with you or to comfort you. She was always present for you. Her enthusiasm, empathy, and unconditional love made her the heart of the family. Mary's unwavering positivity, her sense of adventure, and her deep commitment to those she loved defined her life. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her warmth, generosity, and strength. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 525 Campbell Avenue, Vancouver. Rev. Ray Smith will officiate. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Burnaby Hospital for their compassionate treatment of our mom. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Burnaby Hospital Foundation in Mary's memory. Love you mom!
