Michael was born on October 3, 1925 in Yinping, China. He was a successful merchant trader between his home village in Yinping and the city of Guangzhou until 1950. Thereafter, he moved to Hong Kong to attend the Royal Hong Kong Police Academy and graduated in 1951. Throughout the 1950’s he continued policing and advancing his English language studies. Michael was an accomplished business person, communicator and problem solver. He was known to assist friends and family with immigrating and settling in Canada. Michael was a generous and witty individual who loved reading books and newspapers, watching all sports, playing Chinese chess and singing karaoke.
He loved his Chinese food especially, dim sum which he often enjoyed with family and friends. His children remember him as a kind, funny, gentle and patient father and grandfather who encouraged them to pursue their goals and not to worry too much. Christmas will always and forever be special to us with Yeh Yeh reading out our names on each gift while brimming with joy and big smiles.
There will be a private service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Burnaby Hospital Foundation in memory of Cheung Michael Tsui. Our family would like to thank the hospital staff at Burnaby Hospital for their care and dedication.
Yeh Yeh will be forever in our hearts and at our table at Christmas dinner.
