

Nicola “Nick” Battista Palazzo passed away on Tuesday June 22nd, 2021, at the age of 87 with his wife and daughters by his side. He was born to the late Angelo Battista and Concettina Lastoria Battista on November 15th, 1933, in Civitanova del Sannio, Italy. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 16 and began his training to become a mechanic. In 1961 he returned to his hometown in Italy where he met his beloved Felicia Virginillo and they married one year later in Fort Macleod, AB in 1962.
Nick was a business owner for many years in Southern Alberta. He was well respected within the business community and by the customers he served. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Italian Canadian Culture Club. He retired in 1988 and relocated his family to Burnaby, BC and he continued his volunteer work with the Civitanova del Sannio Italian Club. He was an avid gardener, wine maker, and conversationalist. But his greatest love was his family. Nick had an engaging smile and a life full of love, laughter, and compassion.
He is survived by his wife Felicia Palazzo, daughters Sofia Thompson (husband Glen Thompson), Tina Palazzo. Granddaughters Jessie and Jordan Thompson and numerous loving nieces and nephews extended family and many great friends. He is survived by his two brothers, Antonio Battista (Switzerland) and Mario Battista (Italy) along with their extended families.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
