

Norman was blessed with a long, rewarding and purposeful life. He was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on October 28, 2013. He was born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, immigrated to Canada in 1921. Predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Vivian Johnston, on January 18, 2010 and by his youngest brother John Johnston (Brenda) on November 9, 2010. He leaves to mourn, his son David Robert Johnston, and by brother Robert (Bob) Johnston (Erna). All three brothers saw military action during the Second World War. Norman served with the Essex Scottish Regiment from south of Caen to the western bank of the Rhine river. He was wounded in the Battle for Xanten. He worked for Canada Post for 39 years, 17 with the Railway Mail Service. At the time of death, Norman was a resident of the George Derby Centre. He wished to express his sincere appreciation and thanks to the nurses and the rest of the staff for their gentleness, kindness and thoughtfulness that was extended to him during his stay there. Memorial Services will be held at the Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, 2551 East 49th Ave. Vancouver, BC on Tuesday, November 5th at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Jack Taylor will conduct the service.
