Pietro (Peter) Dotto, of Vancouver, British Columbia, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at the age of 90.
Peter was born on September 11, 1935, in Paese, Treviso, Italy, and immigrated to Canada in 1957. For three years, he worked in a gold mine in Bralorne, British Columbia, before settling in Vancouver, BC, which he proudly made his home.
In 1960, Peter began a long and dedicated career at Marine Drive Golf Course, where he worked for 35 years, eventually retiring as the Superintendent. His strong work ethic, leadership, and pride in his work earned him deep respect throughout his career.
On September 10, 1960, Peter married the love of his life, Virginia. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage, building a life founded on devotion, family, and hard work. They were blessed with two children: their daughter Diana, born in June 1963, and their son Mario, born in May 1968.
Peter had many hobbies and talents that brought joy to his life and to those around him. He enjoyed gardening, photography, winemaking, and dancing—particularly waltzes and tangos. He cherished time spent playing bocce at Confederation Park with his many friends. Music was a true passion of his, from playing the accordion to singing in three choirs: Coro della BC, Coro dei Trevisani nel Mondo, and a men’s choir. Peter was also well known for his creativity and ingenuity, delighting family and friends with his many inventive creations.
Peter lived a good and full life and is lovingly remembered by those he leaves behind. He is survived by his devoted wife, Virginia, and his children, Diana (Tom) and Mario (Lisa). He was a proud grandfather to Nicholas, Adam (Marie Line), Christian (Elisa), Letizia, and Marco, and a cherished great‑grandfather to Samuel, Charles, Naomi, and William.
Rest in peace, Pietro. You are in a better place now, free from suffering. You will be missed and forever loved by many.
