With her loving family beside her, Rita Yaba peacefully slipped from this world into the solace of Heaven. Rita Yaba was born and raised in Daet, Camarines Norte province of Bicol, Philippines on May 22,1938.
In her younger years, Rita enjoyed working as a teacher. On July 1,1963 Rita married Ernesto Yaba and enjoyed 15 years of togetherness. She became a widow on January 11,1978. She took on the incredible responsibility of raising five children on her own. Seeking a better future for her family, she bravely moved to Italy for work before settling in Canada as a caregiver. Through hard work and perseverance, she became a dedicated Community Health Worker and developed amazing friendships along the way.
Her greatest joy was her family. She successfully sponsored her three daughters (Gigi, Mayet and Gemma) to Canada in 1990 and helped them build new lives in Vancouver. She was their greatest supporter and source of unconditional love while building their own family and careers.
Even in retirement, Rita enjoyed travelling to different parts of the world with her sisters, family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her generosity, resilience, fun loving and for her love of flowers and travelling.
She will be sadly missed by her 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren:
