Rosalie passed away at the age of 98 on June 26th, 2018.
We are all sad to say Goodbye to our beautiful Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. She was in quite good health, with a sharp mind and quick wit, until about 2 years ago, when her health began to slowly decline. With the help of her loving son, Brian, she was able to remain at home where she died peacefully in her sleep.
Rosalie was born in Saint Bonafice, Manitoba on February 5th, 1920. She was the 2nd child of Joe and Adrienne Jourdain with six more children to follow for a total of 5 girls and 3 boys who have all pre-deceased her.
She met a very handsome young man named Leif in St. Vital and she and her sister Marguerite moved to Vancouver after he joined the army and was posted in Esquimalt as a cook. They married on November 19, 1944. After Leif was discharged from the army, he worked as a baker and in February of 1947 Carol was born followed by Brian in March, 1949.
Rosalie worked part time at Woodwards in the bakery department where she made many friends.
She loved going to Reno and also to the local Casinos where she was sometimes very lucky. She also enjoyed Bingo and at one time going to the horse races. She had a knack for numbers and always remembered everyone’s birthdays and phone numbers and enjoyed working out their astrological charts.
Leif passed away on November 20th 2001 and eventually Rosalie and Brian moved to Richmond to be closer to Carol, Gary and her two granddaughters, Kristine and Catherine.
Rosalie enjoyed spending time with family and was excited to welcome six Great Grandchildren.
She will be fondly remembered for her Sunday Roast Dinners and many fruit pies, squares and tarts, which she lovingly made for them all.
Rosalie had a love for music, especially the classics like Marty Robbins, Bing Crosby and Perry Como. She and Leif enjoyed going dancing and it is our hope that she is dancing with her sweetheart again.
There will be no service by request but we will have a small family gathering on July 9th. If anyone would like more information please e-mail Carol at [email protected].
