It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a loving Dad, Nonno and adoring husband to our Mom, Mary, of 67 wedded, blessed years. He was a proud father of his sons Richard (Mary) and Ken (Claudette). He was also proud of his eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Cecil, as he was called, was born on June 7, 1918. He was the fourth son of the late Giuseppe and Caterina Iaci, and loving brother to his only sister Rose Dalfo and brother Frank. He was predeceased by brothers Peter, Joe and Mickey. Dad graduated from Dawson School and King George High. He served overseas in the Second World War. The family owned the Martin Hotel and the American Hotel for many years. He worked at many of the hotels in Vancouver, the last being the Astor.
Dad and Mom enjoyed travelling. They had visited many European countries. The holiday he loved most was their yearly trip to Hawaii. He was a gentle man who always had a smile on his face and he had a grand sense of humour.
He loved Mom’s good cooking and enjoyed shopping for groceries. Dad always made sure Mom was never in want of anything.
He was a member of the Hotel Association, Fraternity Order of the Eagles 2075 for 69 years, and also of the YMCA for 25 plus years.
Dad is also missed by his brothers in law Joe (Grace) Clemente of Duncan, B.C. and Alfred Olson of White Rock, B.C. as well as many nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the medical staff on the 10th floor of the Centennial building at VGH for their help and kindness in making Dad’s last days pain free and comfortable.
Thanks to Claudette for supporting Mom with all the visits to the hospital and bringing a smile to Dad’s face as he called her Angel #5.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the YMCA or charity of your choice.
