Born on September 30, 1943, in Lezzeno, Lake Como, Italy, Rudy immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of seven. From that point on, Vancouver was his home, where he spent his entire life and where he built his career, friendships, and daily routines.
Rudy worked as an accountant with the Canada Revenue Agency throughout his professional career. He took great pride in his work and was known for his reliability, discipline, and integrity.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Rudy maintained a strong personal interest in financial analysis. He spent many hours studying private companies and tracking their performance over time, an activity that reflected both his analytical mindset and his enduring curiosity about how businesses evolve.
Outside of work, Rudy greatly enjoyed tennis, ballroom dancing, and travel, especially cruises, which combined his love of movement, music, and discovering new places.
He is survived by his brother, Paul Vaccani; his nephew, Jean-Philippe Vaccani; and his long-time partner, Ligaya Garcia.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, at 2:30 p.m., in the Chapel on the main floor at St. Vincent’s Langara, where Rudy will be remembered alongside other residents who have passed away.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 1:30 p.m., at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, British Columbia. Interment will follow at 2:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in memory of Rudy.
Rudy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
