Ruth Eleanor Bill passed away on April 4th, 2020 at the age of 92 adding another angel in heaven. She is survived by her daughters Cassandra Bill and Candace Davey, son Aleksander Bill, granddaughter Vanessa Davey, sister Edith Woods, sister-in-law Nellie Delloch, sister-in-law Yvonne Bill and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Alek Bill, brother Harry Jacobsen, and sister Grace Lenz. She was born in April of 1927 in Wayne, AB and grew up in a farming community near Drumheller, Alberta. In her early years she helped her father and brother in the fields as the designated "2nd boy" before leaving home to study to become a nurse. She trained at Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1948. She had an adventurous soul and decided to practice nursing in Hawaii after she graduated but not before stopping in Prince Rupert and meeting the man she would later marry, Alek Bill. She lived in Prince Rupert with her husband Alek for 27 years until their retirement and enjoyed many years as a wife, mother, friend, and nurse. Following her retirement from nursing to raise her children, she assisted her husband with his many businesses including a Real Estate Agency; Shipping Agency; Custom Brokerage; Justice of the Peace and Notary Public. Ruth and her husband Alek moved to Vancouver upon retirement at the age of 60 and settled in the West End in an apartment overlooking the water. Her favourite thing as she got older was to sit at her kitchen table and look out at the ocean. She became a fixture at her local church Redeemer Lutheran and was a forever friend to all that knew her. She was a beautiful soul inside and out and will be dearly missed by all her family and friends; remembered for her love of music, beautiful singing voice and kind heart. Ruth’s funeral will be held at 1:15pm on Saturday April 25, 2020 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada and Canadian Diabetes Association.
