Shirley Evelyn Gibbard

She was blessed to share her life with Glen Gibbard (deceased Oct 11, 2021), and was much loved by her family, along with Gibbard and Geiger (Weissmuller) cousins and relatives and valued friends.

Shirley attended UBC and graduated with a degree in Science (Biology). Shortly after graduation, she started working as a biologist with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, where she met her husband, Glen. They shared a wonderful life, celebrating an anniversary every Saturday, reminding each other how important love is.

Throughout her life, Shirley was an avid reader; her most valued gift was her first library card. Combining their joint research skills, Shirley and Glen enjoyed their time tracing the Gibbard, Geiger and Weissmuller family histories. Shirley cherished time spent with family and friends, and if you were lucky, you could even get one of her famous cinnamon buns. Shirley will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

At Shirley’s request there will be no service. A graveside internment will take place at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
