Mrs. Shook Jing Leung

Born in Hong Kong on November 28, 1929, she moved at a young age to Zhongshan, Guangdong Province. She was the cherished daughter of the late Mr. Chan Ming and Mrs. Au Yeung Sui Mei. After returning to Hong Kong, she met her husband, Mr. Leung Wang Fat, and they were married in 1948. Together, they built a successful import-export business specializing in textiles, working side by side and creating a strong foundation for their growing family.

Mrs. Leung was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the proud and loving mother of five children: Cassandra Desbiens, Francita Lowe, Arthur Leung, Wilson Leung, and Tina Cheung. Nothing brought her greater joy than her family.

She delighted in watching her family grow and was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren—Geoff, Chris, Carolyn, Stephen, Maegan, Andrew, Mason, Candice, Nicole, and Kevin—and a treasured great-grandmother to fourteen great-grandchildren: Trevor, Brendan, McKenzie, Hunter, Ashton, Nathan, Sarah, Duncan, Tyler, Wellington, Wyatt, Penny, Jake, and Arlo.

In 1969, Mrs. Leung immigrated with her family to Vancouver, where she built a warm and welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and the aromas of home-cooked meals. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Mr. Leung Wang Fat, whom she missed deeply. She was always there for her children and grandchildren, offering quiet strength, gentle guidance, and unwavering support. She especially enjoyed cooking for those she loved and spending time playing mahjong with family and friends.

A devoted member of the Soka Gakkai Association, Mrs. Leung’s Buddhist faith was central to her life. She was deeply involved in the community and dedicated much of her time to chanting, studying, and practicing Buddhism to the Gohonzon. Her sincere wish was always for peace, happiness, and well-being for her family and for all people.

Visitation will be held at Ocean View Funeral Home, Burnaby, BC, on January 23, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The funeral service will take place at Ocean View Funeral Home on January 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. Leung will be remembered for her quiet strength, her generous heart, and the deep love she held for her family. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
