Our beloved Rev. Dr. S. Y. King went to be with the Lord on February 21, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. in Vancouver. He was 98 years old.
Dr. King received his PhD from the Imperial College of Sciences and Technology at the University of London. Dr. King, Professor Emeritus and Hon. Doctor of Science of the University of Hong Kong served as Department Head and later Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Pro-Vice-Chancellor. He was the first Chinese-appointed as Director of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) of the Far East Region.
Rev. Dr. King loved the Lord all his life and he served the Lord faithfully. He was a board member of the China Graduate School of Theology (of Hong Kong), Hong Kong Theological Seminary and Vancouver’s Regent College. He was ordained in 1982 by the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance in Hong Kong and served as a pastor of the Vancouver Chinese Alliance Church (VCAC) after he immigrated to Canada in 1983. He had also served as the board chairman of Chinese Christian Mission of Canada. He was conferred an Honorary Degree of Humane Letters by Trinity Western University, Canada in 2011.
Besides serving at VCAC, he preached in different churches. He supported student ministry, fellowships and faithfully prayed for anyone in need. For the past few years, he supported the Mandarin Ministry at VCAC. Rev. Dr. King served the Lord wholeheartedly.
Books he authored include Christianity and Science, How to Respond to God’s Love and All of Grace.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 24 at Fraser Lands Church (3330 S.E. Marine Drive, Vancouver, Canada) at 10 a.m. Immediately following the service, Interment will be held at Ocean View Burial Park in the section of 'Sycamore'.
