Tomas San Luis Geronimo, of Vancouver, British Columbia, was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world peacefully on May 8th, 2023, at the age of 84 with his loving son Jonathan and daughter-in-law Claire right by his side.
Tomas Geronimo was born on December 22nd,1938 in Mandaluyong, Philippines to Basilisa San Luis and Felipe Geronimo. He is the eldest son of 3 children. He married his lifelong soulmate, Maria Cabrera on September 29, 1975, and they happily had one son whom they named Jonathan John.
Tomas studied auto mechanics and other trades before immigrating to Canada. He worked extremely hard to provide for his family. He worked with BC Hydro in the shipping and receiving department until his retirement in 2003. Tomas was incredibly talented and was always happy to share his gifts. He was a true perfectionist handyperson fixing cars, renovating homes, and building sheds for family and friends. If something were broken, he could fix it without a doubt! He was a devout Catholic and volunteered every Saturday at St Jude’s Parish as an usher at the 5pm mass. Tomas loved to work with his hands, which included woodworking, fixing anything and everything. He was also an extraordinary chef. When he had his mind set on learning how to cook a new recipe, he would experiment with every ingredient until he perfected the recipe. He enjoyed and loved cooking new recipes for his family, but most especially for his three grandchildren. He would often bring food to them whenever he visited and admired their faces when the three of them glowed and boasted on how delicious grandpa’s cooking was. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors and taking the boat out and crabbing with his family. He always loved showing his grandsons Ethan and Ryan the proper way to set up a crab trap and how to accurately measure the ones they catch. Tomas also loved to laugh and make others laugh; he had a great sense of humor.
Tomas is preceded in death by his loving wife Maria. He will also be lovingly remembered by Jonathan, Claire, and his three grandchildren, Ethan, Ryan, and Maeghan whom he adored so very much. He is also survived by many loving family members and friends.
