Passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in Vancouver, BC on January 3, 2013. Russell is survived by his husband Alain Trepanier and their two loving doggies Gus and Lulu. Russell and Alain created a most loving family which nurtured them both, allowing them to thrive both professionally and emotionally.
Russell obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY, and went on to train in stone sculpture in France and Italy. It was at Studiostone (www.studiostone.ca) in Vancouver that he found a caring community of stone sculptors where he deepened his art, producing a significant body of work (www.russellbroughton.com). It was also at Studiostone that Russell found a mentor and very dear friend in Oliver Harwood.
A Celebration of Life Open House for Russell will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, January 12th, 2013 at Studiostone, located at 1760 Vernon Drive, Vancouver, BC, which is west of Clark Drive between 2nd Avenue and the Terminal Avenue Viaduct.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Russell’s name to the St.Paul’s Hospital Foundation (1081 Burrard St, Suite 178, Vancouver, BC V6Z 9Z9) would be greatly appreciated.
