Willie Leong

Willie Leong, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024, at the age of 94.

Born on September 27, 1929, in Hong Kong, Willie lived a life full of love, bravery, and discipline. He was known for his devotion to his family, his careful and wise nature, and his high standards of meticulousness.

In 1956, Willie married the love of his life, Doreen, in a union that would become the foundation of a large and loving family of six. In Hong Kong, Willie founded and operated his own glazing company, earning respect for his hard work and entrepreneurial spirit. His business was a testament to his integrity and dedication.

In 1976, Willie made a courageous decision that would alter the course of his family’s history. Leaving behind the familiar streets of Hong Kong, he embarked on an immigration journey to Canada. This leap of faith was driven by his desire to secure a brighter future for his family. He continued his entrepreneurship as a restaurateur. Willie and his wife, Doreen, operated a Chinese restaurant in Vancouver as their children were growing up.

In his later years, Willie's diligence remained steadfast. He exercised daily, stayed informed through newspapers, and engaged his mind through writing. His life was a testament to the power of routine and intellectual engagement.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Doreen Leong, his children Pamala (Gary), Eva (Frank), Steven (Linda), and his daughter-in-law Anita. He is also survived by his six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He joins his late son, Billy, in eternal rest.

Willie Leong's story is one of resilience, love, and an unyielding quest for a better future. His legacy of bravery, devotion, and kindness will echo through generations. His unwavering spirit and love for his family will remain a guiding light for all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
