Wing Wai Leong

Wing was born on November 20, 1931 in Sunwui District, Kongmoon City, Guangdong Province, China. In 1958, Wing married Ngar Yee (Cindy) in Hong Kong. Shortly afterwards, they gave birth to their first child, Mary. The family then immigrated to Canada where their sons Carson and Simon were born.

In Canada, Wing held many jobs including picking apples in Kelowna, BC and working on a farm in Edmonton, AB. He then moved to Williams Lake, BC and worked as a waiter at the Lakeview Restaurant which he later co-owned. He also became a landlord at a fourplex and later owned and operated the Parkview Apartments. Wing retired in Vancouver, BC.

Wing enjoyed playing ping pong at the local recreation centre, investing in the stock market, traveling and taking cruises, watching dazzling performances and shows, playing mahjong with his grandchildren, and spoiling his great-grandchildren with treats.

Wing was predeceased by his father and mother, Leong Yin Ji and Tam Chum Wah. He is survived by his wife Ngar Yee; children Mary (and husband Curtis), Carson (and wife Tracy), and Simon; grandchildren Alexandra (and husband Dylan), Candace, Cameron, and Spencer; and great-grandchildren Whitney and Cole.

A funeral service for Wing will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC V5J1A4. Following the funeral service will be an entombment service from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the South Mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC V5J1A4.
