Wing Let Woo passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025. He was married for 69 years to Bik King Woo who predeceased him in 2017. A family man through and through, he was a father to four children, Richard, Susan, Harry, and Ernie, and a devoted grandfather to Marisa (Ted), Jonathan (Stefania), Lian, and Amy. He also had two lovely great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Calliope. He is also survived by his brother, Glenn and his wife Gale and their children, Caitlin and Christopher.
His father, Kee Woo predeceased him in 1986 and his stepmother, Faye in 2018.
Wing Let Woo was born in Kaiping, China on February 13, 1931. He went to high school in Guangzhou and had aspirations for further studies at university. However, the political situation in China necessitated his leaving all that behind.
In 1949 he moved to Port Alice, a small town on Vancouver Island where his father, Kee Woo worked in the pulp mill. After short stints as a cook and baker, he started working at the same mill and eventually attained a supervisory position which he held until retirement in 1987.
Because of his helpful, friendly nature and his being literate in English and Chinese, he helped many Port Alice people with translating important documents or accompanying them to medical appointments.
After retirement Wing Let and Bik King moved to Vancouver to be closer to their children. They now had the freedom to travel with multiple trips in North America and to Asia, and Europe.
The family would like to thank the staff at Richmond Hospital and Hamilton High Street Residence for their compassionate care.
