Winnie Yip passed away peacefully in her 99th year on the morning of April 10th in Vancouver. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Fred and brothers Sunny, Raymond, and Yuk. She is survived by her daughters Ramona, Elaine (Eric), Deb (Leonard), Valerie and many nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family.
In 1948, Winnie and Fred moved from Vancouver to Wells and then on to Prince George to work in the family operated business, Royal Produce. After she retired from the grocery business, she worked as a Greyhound ticket agent until 1992.
In her earlier years, Winnie's favourite pastime was Ballroom dancing. Her grace, elegance, and natural sense of rhythm on the dance floor highlighted her amazing talent for dancing. During her retirement years, Winnie enjoyed outings with her girls, family gatherings, and cruises to many countries. She was generous, kind, and devoted to her family.
The family would like to express appreciation and gratitude to Bayshore Home Heath and care workers: Timotea, Eva, Nimrit, Susan, and Christine; the Jewish Family Services care workers: Bolormaa, Lori, and Carla; Dr. B. Henriquez from Vancouver General VIVE program, and Nurse Wanda from Three Bridges Community Health for their excellent care and support. A donation in Winnie's name may be made to Vancouver Coastal Health VIVE program, Red Cross, or Kidney Foundation of Canada.
A private internment was held at Ocean View Cemetery, Burnaby. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
