

Yip Chee Chan peacefully passed away at Minoru Residence on March 25th, 2025. Yip Chee was born in Haiyan, Guangdong, China, the second of seven children to Lau Fook Cheung and Wong Lin Tai. Yip Chee and her siblings relocated from Haiyan to Hong Kong in the 1930s during the Second Sino-Japanese War. In Hong Kong, she married Chiu Chan in 1959 and dedicated her time as a housewife. She converted to Catholicism in 1960.
She immigrated from Hong Kong to Canada in 1980 to reunite with her extended family. Her parents and all her siblings had previously moved to Canada throughout the 1960s and 1970s. In Canada, she resided in Richmond, BC, where she made numerous friends and greatly enjoyed living within the close-knit community.
Simple pleasures, such as socialising with friends on Sundays after church, watching The Price Is Right, and cooking delicious meals, brought joy to Yip Chee throughout her lifetime.
For the final 11 years of her life, she resided at Minoru Residence. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all staff members for the compassionate care provided to their mother and grandmother.
Yip Chee was nurturing to all generations and profoundly influenced her children and grandchildren. She consistently offered wise advice and unwavering support during life's challenges, leaving behind cherished memories.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on April 13th, 2025, at Ocean View Funeral Home - 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby BC. The funeral mass will begin at 11:30 AM at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church - 5771 Granville Ave, Richmond BC on April 14th, 2025. Burial will follow at 1:30PM on April 14th, 2025, at Ocean View Burial Park - 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby BC.
