It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, Yue Lue Yong, in the early morning hours of January 17, 2026.
Lue was so very strong throughout his courageous and hard fought battle with liver, thyroid and lung cancer and held on to his sense of humor right to the very end.
Family was everything to Lue. Pre-deceased by his loving wife, Amy in August of 2025, Lue is survived by their loving family: Emily Lau (Lawrence Lau), Diana Young (Cheewah Yip) and David Young (Tina Young) and grandchildren: Brendan Yip, Darren Yip, Sheah Young and Rylan Young.
He will be always remembered as a proud, strong, brave, generous, kind-hearted, loving, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His love of gardening, food and cooking will live on in our memories.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the doctors, nurses, care aides and physiotherapists at both the ACE ward at VGH and St. John’s Hospice at UBC for taking such good care of Dad over the last few months. A special thank you to Dr. Howard Lim and Dr. Tae Hoon Lee at BC Cancer for their support and fighting alongside Dad through every step in his journey.
Lue’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31st at the chapel at Forest Lawn (3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC) from 1:00 – 2:00pm. Lue will then be laid to rest at 2:30pm in the Parkview section of the cemetery.
Floral arrangements are welcome and can be sent to Forest Lawn before 11:00am on January 31st . Alternatively, donations to BC Cancer in memory of Lue are appreciated.
