

Billie Ruth “B. Ruth” Henry passed away Monday, October 1, 2012, in Burnet. She was born November 14, 1922 in the Turkey Bend area of Burnet County to William Henry Phillips and Dollie Hood Phillips. She lived in Burnet County all her life. The majority of B. Ruth’s life was spent with her husband “Pete, her husband and companion of fifty five years. They shared a dream of owing their own ranch. They eventually and proudly shared a ranch that was on land that contained the school that she and her sisters rode horseback to attend through her 11th grade graduation.
When not on the ranch she and Pete were cornerstones of the congregation of the Vanderveer Street Church of Christ. B .Ruth spent many hours cooking, serving food, and helping with various activities of her church and the local nursing home. She also had a passion for helping at the Cherokee Children’s Home and generally fit the definition of someone with a Servant’s Heart. In her later years, before moving to the nursing home she spent many hours chasing grandchildren. She will be missed by many.
B. Ruth is survived by her son Charles Eugene “Gene” Henry and his wife Linda of Georgetown, grandchildren Kellie Strain and husband Carter of Burnet, Valerie Henderson and husband Jacob of Lancaster, CA., Alicia Graham and husband Robert, of Georgetown and Brad Henry and wife Lacey, also of Georgetown. Great-grandchildren are Logan Strain, Caden Strain, Kayla Strain, Ciaus Strain, Brett Henderson, Brenden Henderson, Shane Henderson, James Graham, Luke Henry and Eli Henry. B. Ruth is also survived by a sister Joyce Anna Gay Phillips Jarvis and by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and longtime friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester Lafayette “Pete” Henry, son Larry Stillman Henry, and siblings Ernest Lee Phillips, Elma Lorene Phillips, and Ruby Estelle Phillips Sylvestor
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 4, 2012, at the Vanderveer Street Church of Christ officiated by Minister Tim Denton. Burial will follow at Smithwick Cemetery.
