David Alexander Stephens, Jr., SCPO USN retired, of Burnet passed away Monday, May 15, 2023, at age 81. He was born in Miami, Florida July 10, 1941, to David Alexander Stephens, Sr. and Lyla (Black) Stephens.
Dave grew up in Miami and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after a 25-year career in the US Navy. He later moved to Austin where he worked as a Senior Scientist for Tracor, Inc. for 20 years before retiring to Lake Buchanan near Burnet where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Some of his hobbies included fishing, hunting, boating, and playing with his dogs.
Surviving family include his wife of 59 years Arlene, three children David Stephens, Dwayne Stephens, and Debra Jones. Also surviving are his grandchildren Brittany, Caylee, Delaney, Tyler, Tristen, Skylar, Danika, Tanner, David and Price. Great grandchildren surviving are Conner, Dakota and Joseph.
Following a private family viewing and cremation, burial of Dave's ashes with full military honors will take place later at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
