Frank was born on January 29, 1943, in Harlingen, TX, to Pablo Garcia and Rita Smith.
Our dad lived a magnificent life — he lived, loved, and played with incredible passion. He always put his wife and children above all else. For many years, he was a proud motorcycle enthusiast and a member of the club known as the Gamblers. Dad and Mom fully embraced the biker lifestyle during their wild younger years — some of the best memories of our lives were made during that time.
Frank, affectionately known as "OG Panchito", had a presence that lit up any room. If you ever had the privilege of meeting him, you know exactly what we mean. He had a heart of gold and was always ready to help anyone — even strangers. And if you brought him the wrong tool… well, let’s just say you’d hear a good ol’ “Chingow!”
God gave Dad 82 glorious years, and he made every one of them count. He made us feel like we were the only people in his world. His love was fierce, loyal, and deeply felt.
Frank retired after 35 years of dedicated work with CCISD. He now joins his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Elvia Garcia, in eternal rest.
He was also preceded in death by his mother Rita Silvas, his grandmother Rita Smith (Welita).
He is survived by his four children, Sandy Hernandez (Carlos) Frank R. Garcia Jr. (Clara) Joann Long (Dee) Grace Heitkam (Jon); 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and 1 more great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his sister Eloise Padron (Jesse).
Though he has crossed to the other side, his spirit, laughter, and unconditional love will live on in all of us.
Ride free, OG Panchito. You will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life for Frank is currently being planned by the family. Will add details once everything is finalized.
The Garcia family would like to thank Altus Hospice for the excellent compassionate care provider to our dad. Special thank you to Tracy, Cassi, Erika, Pam and Brenna.
