Geneva Ann Parker, 82, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was called home to glory this Tuesday, October 26th, 2021. Born in Alice, Texas on March 20, 1939, Geneva was the eldest of the five children of Vernie Frederick and June Evelyn Swartz. In her youth, Neva was a stand-out with her beautiful smile and a charming gaze that won the hearts and admiration of her classmates. An avid lover of holidays at home, her decorations later enchanted her children and friends and made the warmth of every homecoming something special. A mainstay at the First State Bank of Burnet throughout much of her adult life, Geneva worked as a teller, a bookkeeper, and assisting others with their prized possessions in the safe-deposit-box area. For a time, you may have even found a special ring or a beautiful necklace at Geneva’s Jewelry, her little shop on the square in Burnet. But her real gems were the loves of her life – her children and grandchildren who knew her home as the center of a world where front doors remained unlocked, and the sweet hum of a favorite old hymn always greeted you in the kitchen.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, her four siblings Margaret Jeanette Swartz, Vernie Frederick “Fred” Swartz, Richard Walton Swartz, Ronald Eugene Swartz, her first husband Clyde S. Greenlees, Jr., husband Jan D. Parker, grandson Aubrey Clayton Fariss, and sons-in-law Kirk Tatum, Edward Fariss, and Matt Counts.
She is survived by her children and their spouses – Julie Fariss Boyd and husband Larry, Amy Jo Counts, Samuel Corey Greenlees and wife Linnie, Lori Ann Forman and husband Jeff, and Bonnie Merlee Rodriguez and husband Roland. She was dearly loved by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Ryan Kirk Tatum, Jessica Joanne Rodriguez, Michael Edward Fariss, Haley Victoria Rivera, Jordan Leigh Utsey, Barbara Mattison “Mattie” Counts, Samantha Tess Greenlees, Peyton Lane Utsey, Campbell Joseph Greenlees, Daniel Kirk Tatum, Geneva Denise Tatum, Quincy Jesus Rodriguez, Autymn Lilly Rodriguez, Dakota Elliott Ortiz, and Easton Alexander Ortiz.
A memorial service honoring her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Burnet.
