John Henry Battles III, 65, of Bertram, Texas, passed away on February 20, 2025. Born on October 1, 1959, John was a loving husband, devoted father, and an all-around family man who was deeply cherished by all who knew him. He had a heart of gold, always putting his loved ones first, and he will be greatly missed.
John was a passionate man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He found joy in cruising around on his Harley with his son, Josh, and driving his beloved old black truck. His presence in the community was a constant, as he earned the affectionate title of “neighborhood watch,” always looking out for others with kindness and care.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane Battles of Bertram; son Josh Battles and his wife Bailey of Bertram; son Jeramie Battles of Lago Vista; and his treasured grandchildren, Courtney and Katie Battles of Houston, Cooper and Slade Holley of Llano. John is also survived by his mother-in-law Betty Cunningham of Burnet, father-in-law Larry Cantrell of Briggs, and a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will all carry his memory in their hearts.
John was preceded in death by his beloved son Justin, who he loved dearly and missed every day; his parents, Cotton and Margaret Battles; his brother, Martin Battles; his sister, Ginger Yount; and his in-laws, Paul Cunningham and Sue Cantrell.
John’s legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter will live on through the many lives he touched. While he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, John, and know that your family will carry your memory with love and honor forever.
