 Obituario de Marjorie Wilkes
Marjorie Nell Glenn Wilkes, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and inspiration to all who knew her, passed from this earth on September 14, 2022. She was 94 years old. Marjorie was born to Fred and Willie Glenn on September 23, 1927. She was one of six children raised in a small house in Smithville, Texas. She graduated from Smithville High School at age 16. In 1945, near the end of the war, she met the love of her life, Robert Elton (Bob) Wilkes, at Camp Swift, near Bastrop, Texas. They married July 28, 1945 in Williamsburg, Virginia. Together, they had four children: Duane, David, Cindy and Robert Jr. (Bobby). Bob died in 1972, leaving Marjorie to complete the job of raising the children alone which she did with love and strength. The most important things in Marjorie’s life were faith and family. She was a life-long member of the Baptist church. She loved to paint and pass on her love of art to younger generations. She treasured holidays with family and would prepare the world’s best turkey and dressing. Marjorie contracted polio as a child which restricted her participation in athletics throughout most of her life. Well into her 80s, however, she began an exercise program which continued for years and was motivation for many. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband Bob Wilkes and son Duane Wilkes. She is survived by her son David Wilkes, his wife Melanie Wilkes and children Ellen (January) Smith, Claire (Mitchell) Smarda and Audrey (Khai Yi) Wilkes; her daughter Cindy Reissig, her husband Lance Reissig and children Robby (Heather) Reissig, Lee Reissig and Joe (Peyton) Reissig; her son Bobby Wilkes, his wife Stephanie Wilkes and children Taylor Wilkes and Zachary (Maxine) Wilkes; her son Duane’s children, Gayla Brand and Duane Wilkes, Jr., numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 3:00pm at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 East Polk, Burnet, TX. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10:00am, First Baptist Church Burnet, 108 S.
