

Mary Jo Guthrie Rowland Wilson of Burnet, Texas went to be with her Lord on March 6, 2016 in Marble Falls, Texas. She was the third child to Wallace Stewart Guthrie and Nympha Dora Ford Guthrie born on November 22, 1930 in Rockdale, Texas. Sisters and brother include Ann, Bert and Pat. Her mother passed away when she was two years old and her father remarried. The family moved to Corsicana where her father became a prominent Oil & Gas operator. He passed away in 1964 and Bert, Mary Jo and their siblings started Gas Compressors, Inc. which grew into a successful oil field service company.
After graduating Baylor University, Mary Jo married Arthur Otto Rowland on November 25, 1951 and to this marriage three boys were born: Gary, Wayne and Mark. Mary Jo later married Moses Sidney Wilson on August 9, 1962 and to this marriage Brian and Gwynne were born. The family moved to Overton in 1971. She instilled high expectations that encouraged all five children to obtain college degrees.
A founding member of the Church at Epicenter in Burnet, Mary Jo was actively involved for 10 years in the church’s mission. Mary Jo took great pride in her grandchildren, which were a central focus of her later years.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband Sid, her brother Bert, her sister Pat, and daughter-In-law Sarah Green Rowland. She is survived by her sister Ann of Port Orchard, WA, her five children Gary Rowland of Burnet, Wayne (Donna) Rowland of Hot Springs, AK, Mark Rowland of Marble Falls, Brian (Tamara) Wilson of Ft. Worth, Gwynne (William) Olson of Sugar Land, two stepsons Danny (Leanne) Wilson of Hamilton, Bobby (Sally)Wilson of California, 20 grandchildren and one great grandchild, Bob the dog, and a long list of extended family and friends that loved her.
She was a true Christian showing love, accepting of everyone.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday March 15, 2016 at 10:45 am at the Hairston Creek Farm, 4300 CR 355 in Burnet.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Church at Epicenter, Burnet, TX in Mary Jo’s name.
