On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, Peggy N. Thom, devoted wife and mother, went back to her lord at the age of 80. Peggy was born on September 6, 1940, to Willie and Blanche Horn in Boyd, Texas. She married Roger C. Thom on June 19, 1965 and so began their beautiful and deeply devoted love affair and marriage of 55 years. They raised a son, Thomas, and two daughters, Tammy and Bridgett. Peggy was a compassionate and fair-minded proud conservative Texan. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and was a gifted seamstress. Her work with The Linus Project, an organization that makes and gifts quilts to children in need, brought her significant joy. She was a grateful woman who enjoyed other simple pleasures like watching the steam move across the lake on cold mornings and watching her grandchildren grow and excel in their chosen sports. Peggy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Blanche and Willie Horn, brothers, Olan, Burl and Earl Horn, and sisters, Sue Farmer and Billie Logan. She is survived by her husband, Roger Thom, her sister, Patricia Taylor, her son and his wife, Tom and Sheri Thom, her daughters, Tammy Lavin and Bridgett Thom, her grandchildren, Emily Evans, Taylor Wadsworth, Mason Thom, Ethan Thom, and Silas Reynolds, and her great-grandchildren, Autumn North, Harleigh Evans, Asher Thom, and Whitney Wadsworth. A service will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 23 at the Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet, Texas.

I am very blessed to have had Peggy as my grandma. I still remember after all these years running to her with my very first completed lace and stitch card , step one of sewing. to which she smiled and told me “good job!”. It’s safe to say that her amazing sewing skills more than made up for my lack of but she taught me an important life lesson , find what you love to do and never stop doing it. My grandma had a laugh and smile that could light up a room, something I’ll deeply miss. While I’m very saddened to know I won’t get to see her the next time I come through the front door, I know this is not a “goodbye” but rather a “see ya’ later”. I have no doubts grandma makes a spectacular Angel!

Peggy was a dear friend and helped us start Linus Lake Ladies in 2009 in which we made quilts for local kiddos facing trauma. After I left ELB she kept the group going and continued to share her incredible sewing talent to help others. Sending prayers for comfort to all her family & friends.

I am so sorry for the loss of Peggy. She was a sweet special lady. My condolences to her family.
I met Peggy when we stayed at my son in law’s lake house next door to her.
She invited me to several sew groups and into her home. She also shared directions to her favorite quilt shops
We are no longer able to get to Burnet and we have been keeping in touch on FB.

Peggy and her family were and are dear, dear friends of ours. Peggy had a great sense of humor and great wit. She was a fun and classy gal. Her handiwork, especially quilting, was a treasure and I am fortunate to have a piece that she made. What a trooper!! Dance free and joyously, sweet friend. Blessings and prayers to the family.

Will we have assigned seating at the service, or can I sit with the Honorary Pall Bearers? If spirits are present, I'll have to share Tom with Grammy Horn.
Peggy has been on the Westbury Baptist Church Prayer List for 2-3 months now, so she has not wanted for prayer support. I've spent many hours in the distant past watching her work on her high school twirling routines, and my great grands were really impressed at few years ago at the family reunion when I told them that Aunt Peggy could twirl FIRE. They were amazed. She could have been a really good artist if she could have attended art school. Papa used to give her torn window shades he couldn't sell at the lumber yard so she could paint on them. She did a beautiful picture of the house in Boyd. She was my sister, not by blood, but by law and by love and I shall miss her greatly.
