Rita Christelle Taylor

On February 6, 2011 our beloved mother Rita Christelle Taylor left this earth to be with her Lord and savior. Born April 4, 1930 in Menard County, Texas, she was the daughter of Perry Johnson and Fay (Janes) Johnson. She spent her childhood in Brady, Texas, graduating from Brady High School. After graduating she attended Sul Ross State University where she met and then married William F. “Bill” Taylor on July 3, 1948 in Alpine.

After starting a family they moved from Big Spring to Odessa in 1962. After raising her children she spent 18 years with the Texas Highway Department in Odessa. After retirement she and Bill moved to Burnet where they have spent the past 22 years enjoying family, friends, and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband William F. Taylor and three children, William J. “Billy” Taylor and wife Jackie of Montgomery, Elaine Cagle of Burnet and Joe Tom Taylor and wife Judy also of Burnet. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Margie Doris of Pecos and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, February 11, 2011 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. The funeral will follow on Saturday morning at 10:00 A.M. at the Joppa Community Church with Ryan Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram. Pallbearers named were George Johnson, Keith Johnson, Steve Taylor, Austin Rose, Benny Taylor, and Bryce Brooks.
