Shirley Ann Boyd Byrd, 76, passed from this life, on August 15, 2023. She was born April 4, 1947, to Leslie Irvin and Colene Murphy Boyd in Burnet, Texas. She graduated from Burnet High School in 1965 and went on and began her career in education at Burnet ISD as the office secretary where she met the love of her life, Jim Frank Byrd. Jim Frank and Shirley were united in marriage on July 1, 1971, in Lometa, Texas, and made their home in Bend, Texas, on the beautiful Colorado River until “moving to town” (San Saba, Texas) in 1988. Shirley was also the office secretary at Cherokee ISD for a short time, but then spent most of her early adult life as a housewife, raising hers and Jim Frank’s two children. After Jim Frank’s unexpected death in 1992, Shirley resumed her career in education; she started working for San Saba ISD as a paraprofessional. She devoted 24 years to SSISD and loved every minute of it. She loved the kids, and she cherished the many colleagues and lifelong friends she made along the way. After retirement in 2016, Shirley relocated to Kingsland, Texas, to be closer to her siblings and other family. Her favorite and most cherished memories were the times she spent with her children, grandchildren, and family.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Frank Byrd and her parents, Leslie Irvin and Colene Murphy Boyd.
Shirley is survived by her son, Jonathan Kelly Byrd and wife Jodi of Victoria, Texas; her daughter Kyla Ann DeAnda and husband, Richard of Early, Texas; 3 grandchildren: Macey Ann Jervis and husband, Caedon; Tatum Layne Duncan and Tanner Lance Duncan; 2 great grandchildren: Delilah Grace Jervis and Cutter Wayne Jervis; 1 great grandchild on the way: Cash Ryan Jervis; 2 sisters and 2 brothers: Elaine Henry of Smithwick, Texas; Ginger Harvey and husband Craig of Arlington, Texas; James Boyd and wife Cheri of Kingsland, Texas; and Bill Boyd and wife Shely of Kingsland, Texas; 1 uncle, V.O.
