
Funeral services for Sylvia Hill, age 86, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday April 2 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Warden officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Zion Cemetery near her home in Oatmeal Texas.
Sylvia Dora Bell was born February 8th, 1925 in the Broken Bow, Holly Creek community, Oklahoma to parents Louis Henry Bell and Amanda Eldora Bell. Sylvia attended school in the immediate community. Sylvia married Charles Alfred Hill on November 2nd,1946. Sylvia graduated Houston Beauty Academy in Houston Texas. Their daughter Linda Gail was born Sept 18th. 1953. After moving to Oatmeal Sylvia operated her own beauty shop and boutique (Fashion Square Beauty Salon) which was destroyed by the Burnet tornado. She rebuilt and located in an expanded building on Highway 29 west for several years.
Sylvia spent many hours sewing dresses and outfits for the grand children that followed. She thoroughly immersed herself in to the details of each outfit she created. Sylvia loved the quiet and solitude of birds, critters and flowers especially with an early cup of coffee. She loved to organic garden in her rural country home. Sylvia was a member of First Baptist Church in Burnet and attended before failing health.
She is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Amanda Bell; sisters Gladys Balkcom, Addie Moore, Ethel Brown, Neta Bell, Lula Mae Johnson, Lucille Lafferty, and Bonnie Gibbs also brothers John Bell, Brown Bell, and Prince Bell. She is survived by daughter, Linda Henry and husband Gene; four grandchildren Kellie Strain and husband Carter, Valerie Henderson and husband Jacob, Alicia Graham and husband Robert, Brad Henry and wife Lacey; seven great-grandchildren, Logan Strain, Caden Strain, Kayla Strain, Brett Henderson, Brenden Henderson, James Graham, and Luke Henry; one sister Myrtle Burris of Sulphur Springs Texas, one brother Jack Bell and wife Berneda of Broken Bow Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.
