She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Brent; their son Cody; father-in -law Steve Smith; brother-in -law Blake Smith and partner Melanie Schlossberg; nephew Trevor Smith and partner Chris Rodriguez; Mother and Father Karen and Art Stoner; sister Kathy and husband Joey Padilla; nephew JT and niece Brittany; aunts, uncles and cousins along with an endless number of friends.
After graduating high school in Los Lunas, New Mexico, Tammy and Brent met and started their life adventure together. Both Tammy and Brent were heavily involved in rodeo and bonded over that shared love, especially team roping. In 1988 they loaded their trailer with horses, Tammy's Blue Heeler "Bo" and moved to Brent's hometown of Burnet, Texas. Soon thereafter, they married at the "Party Barn" in Bertram, Texas.
Tammy worked numerous jobs before settling into the city and county government fields. The majority of her career was spent in Williamson County government with Commissioners Lisa Birkman and Cynthia Long. During her time with the county she was involved in numerous community projects to help others. Brown Santa was one of her favorite projects that she was involved with. She loved to share joy and give to others.
Tammy's passion was her family, friends and all of her animals. She loved the outdoors and all adventures with Brent. She was dedicated to their son Cody, and always involved with whatever activities he was a part of. When she was in, she was all in. When Cody started playing baseball, she became the Little League secretary. When Cody was involved with 4-H and FFA, she transported all the kids to meat judging, FFA National Convention, stock shows, swim meets and many, many others.
Most of all she loved all animals, especially her horses, and dogs. Durango, Diva and her pride and joy Cutter and Gracey. She could always find a use for anything. Whether that was a rope she saved 5 years ago and turned into a halter or a board she found on the side of the road and turned into a refurbished table in her barn. She took pride in taking care of her family and was fiercely independent.
Tammy was the sort of person who never met a stranger. She was so open and caring that people naturally gravitated towards her and were always made better for knowing her. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
Visiting hours are between 6 and 8 p.m. Friday June 21st at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday June 22nd at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church in Bertram. A procession to the Brizendine cemetery with Tammy’s urn for a committal service will follow the funeral service.
