Twila Ann (Standley) Fredrickson was born on January 11, 1952 in Smith Center, Kansas to Harold and Delores Standley. On June 8, 2024, she was born into heaven at the age of 72 at St. David’s Hospital in Georgetown, Texas after a long battle with ongoing health issues.
Twila was an only child and grew up in the small town of Kensington, Kansas. She loved spending time with friends and family and especially loved spending time with her dad at the gas station that he owned and operated his entire life. She graduated from Kensington High School in 1970 (where she was fondly known as “Tweet”). On August 19, 1972, she was united in marriage to Dennis Lee Fredrickson. They started their life in WaKeeney, Kansas and later moved to Phillipsburg, Kansas where they raised two beautiful daughters, Lisa LeAnn, and Laura Lee. Dennis and Twila had been married almost 52 years when Twila went to heaven.
Twila attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas and worked for almost 40 years in Social Service between the WaKeeney and Phillipsburg, Kansas hospitals. Twila and Dennis lived and worked in Phillipsburg before retiring and moving to Bertram, Texas in February 2014 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Twila was a devoted wife and mother who cherished her family, friends, and church. She found great joy being with her grandchildren attending school activities, and hosting gatherings. In her younger years, she was a creative and talented seamstress who enjoyed sewing dresses, doll clothes, and many other crafting items. She always came up with the most creative Halloween costumes and Valentines Day boxes for the girls growing up.
Twila will be remembered as a hard worker, a woman of deep Christian faith and love for the Lord, and for being extremely resilient. She enjoyed good health and travel until she suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm on March 2, 2018 at her home in Bertram. The Lord brought her through complex emergency surgery that night, and she was able to enjoy more time with her family and friends despite the many more health issues and back surgeries that came her way in following years. She often told of her experience in the ambulance that night, where she saw Jesus sitting there with her as she was being transferred to Dell Seton hospital in Austin. Despite her chronic illness and pain, she continued to share the Good News of the Gospel everywhere she went. She was a loving grandmother, wife, and friend to all.
Twila was preceded in death by her mother, Delores (Mettlen) Standley and her father, Harold Standley. Survivors include her husband, Dennis, of Bertram, Texas, daughter Lisa (Fredrickson) Lee and her husband AJ of Austin, Texas, daughter Laura (Fredrickson) Centofonti and husband Matt of Lakeway, Texas. Twila was blessed with four precious grandchildren, Abby Lee and Brecken Lee of Austin, Texas and Teagan Centofonti and Sloane Centofonti of Lakeway, Texas.
