

Vivian Lois (Blankenship) Morford passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at her home in Burnet, Texas. She was 91 years old. She was born October 3, 1926 to Carmon and Frances (Frisbie) Blankenship in Great Bend, Kansas.
Vivian grew up in Great Bend and Newton, Kansas. She married Weldon D. Morford, on December 3, 1948, who later became Sheriff of Harvey County, Kansas and for a short time, she was a Harvey County Sheriff Deputy herself. Together they had four children: Bruce, James, Linda and David. They lived in Kansas, Florida, and Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four of her siblings, her husband Weldon, and eldest son Bruce. Survivors include, sister Winifred (Blankenship) Hague of Topeka, KS, son James Morford and wife Faye (Drew) of Donie, TX, daughter Linda Morford-Downey of Burnet, TX, and son David Morford and wife Sharon (Franz) of Ottawa, KS. She adored her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vivian served in various churches throughout her life as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director and Soloist. Her love for music has touched the lives of all who knew her. She also taught elementary school for many years. She loved to sew for her family and others. Other talents included water color and oil painting, as well as playing and teaching the piano. Vivian was an avid reader, and in her later life, embraced technology because she always loved to learn. Even as a 90-plus-year-old, she kept in touch with family and friends through Facebook and emails. The world is a better place because of her life and love.
A family internment will be at the Newton City Greenwood Cemetery (Newton, KS) where she will be laid to rest with her husband. A memorial service will be held in Newton on June 2, 2018. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, a donation may be made to Compassion International in her name. She supported three of their children for the past several years, and caring for children was dear to her heart.
