William was born June 18, 1934, in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Robert C and Dorothy Bailey.
During his school years he spent his time playing football for Rock Springs High School and in his spare time he was in the garage working on cars. He also loved to fly fish in the Wyoming rivers for Trout.
After high school William joined the United States Marine Corps, and he deployed to Korea during the Korean War. He was in the Marines for 4 years and earned the Presidential Unit of Citation which was given to the 1st Marine Division, the Good Conduct Medal and Expert Rifleman. He spent his remaining years as a very proud Marine and would not go anywhere without his special U.S. Marine Corps Korean War Veteran hat on.
Upon returning to the U.S. he married, settled in Kinsman and had 4 children.
William later remarried and retired from Copper Weld Steel Company. He eventually settled in Salado with his wife Mary. William and Mary were married for 46 years. They were active members of Grace Baptist Church for several years.
William kept a very lengthy prayer list and spent time each day praying for those in need of prayer. He had many friends and was always willing to listen and give advice. He had a very warm, caring and encouraging heart. He was looked up to by many who needed a father figure in their lives. He told everyone he met about Jesus. He was a good and faithful servant to our Father and I’m positive that he heard “Job well done” on September 19th.
William loved to watch the old westerns and sermons, and he especially enjoyed his visits and phone calls with his family and friends. The caretakers at assisted living loved him and became like family during his 2 years stay. He will be missed greatly by many.
William is survived by his daughter Ralenda and spouse Randall, son Roger and spouse Hazel, Stepson Randy and spouse Denise, Step-daughter Charla. 8 grandchildren and a never-ending list of family, extended family and friends.
William was preceded in death by his beloved spouse Mary, son Rodney, daughter Regina, parents Robert and Dorothy Bailey, brother Don and sister Betty.
Williams family would like to thank Country Oaks assisted living in Burnet and Magnolia Hospice for their loving care and support.
