

William Dee McBride was born in Coryell County, Texas to Aaron and Daisy McBride on August 28th, 1921. He passed away at the age of 91 on September 11th, 2012 at the Bertram Nursing Home. Bill grew up and went to school in Gatesville, Texas and moved to Austin in 1939 to continue his education. While in school he went to work for the Austin National Bank where he spent his career of 39 years. He served his country during World War II as an Army sergeant. Bill met and married his wife, Doris Schnabel of Burnet before leaving for 2 1/2 year service in the European Theater. This would be the only time they were ever separated during their 68 years of marriage. Bill and Dorris' both loved traveling and enjoyed seeing all 50 states.
Bill and Doris lived in Austin Texas for 62 years and were very active in Westminister Presbyterian Church. Bill served as treasurer, Deacon and Elder of that church. Upon moving home to Burnet, Doris and Bill have been members of the Burnet Presbyterian Church.
Bill is survived by his wife Doris, his only son David, David's wife Stephanie and his two grandchildren Scott and Kimberly. He enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren Morgan, Cameron, Avery and Hayden. Bill also has a nephew, Mike Frazer of Austin.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for all the love and care he was given during his long fight with Parkinsons. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bertram Nursing Home or the Burnet Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 11:00 am. At the Burnet Presbyterian Church. Interment was at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
