

Dora was born in Bieber, California on October 8, 1925, to Ernest and Bessie (Carmichael) Babcock. She was the sixth of 15 siblings growing up on the Babcock family ranch. She graduated from Bieber High School in 1943, married Kenneth Carpenter and moved to McArthur the same year.
She was a huge fan of football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and track meets. She was the mother of seven children, president of the PTA, Cub Scout leader, and retired from US Post Office as a clerk after 20 yrs.
She is survived by 5 sisters, Lula Carpenter of Redding, Ruth Bouse of Adin, Ruby Finch of Ohio, Fern White of Redding, Lily Thompson of Oregon, and Gloria Brewer of Arizona; 1 brother, Charley Babcock of Bieber; 3 sons Larry (Judie) Carpenter of McArthur, Calvin (Linda) Carpenter of Glenburn and Gordon (Claire) Carpenter of Redding; 3 daughters, Caroline (Jim) Geiger of Stirling City, Betty (Bill) Stoltenberg of McArthur and Charlotte (Michael) Landon of Mount Shasta. 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Dora is preceded in death by 5 Brothers, 3 Sisters, 1st husband Kenneth Carpenter, 2nd husband Eugene Schneider, daughter Roberta Mills, and granddaughter Laura Landon.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in McArthur. A reception to follow at the Vets Hall in Fall River at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fall River High School Sports Foundation at PO Box 732, McArthur, CA 96056 or Big Valley Alumni at Box 696, Bieber, CA 96009.
