Anna Berkenpas, age 94, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Anna was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Berkenpas; second husband, Sam Tjepkema; daughter-in-law, Niki Berkenpas; parents Klass and Catherine Groothuis; and sisters Emma Albin, Cornelia DenHollander, and Grace Berkenpas.
She will be loving remembered by her children Marv and Marcia Berkenpas, Jerry and Nancy Berkenpas, Tom Berkenpas, Carol and Dave Veltema, Gordon and Shelli Berkenpas; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Jean Visser, Gladys and Alan Vanniman; Sam’s children; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2025, at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th Street SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. A celebration of Anna’s life will commence 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, with visitation one hour prior, at Byron First Christian Reformed Church, 8541 Byron Center Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. In honor of Anna and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Byron Center Christian School Capital Campaign. Interment will be at Winchester Cemetery.
