

Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Bernard Young Sr.; son, Richard Young; parents Leo and Theresa Homrich; siblings Donald Homrich, Betty Miller, Leo Homrich Jr., Maxine Chivis, Ivan Homrich, and Alden Homrich.
She will be remembered by her children Roger (Beverly) Young, David Young, Theresa (Dale Cotts) VandenBerg, Randy (Mary Krueger) Young, Michael Young, Carol (Thomas) Lenhart, Marcia (Paul) Havens, and Kathy (Ray) Funk; 18 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; sister, Maryella Simons; sister-in-law, Charlene Elderkin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Carmen was a lifetime member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Carmen enjoyed nature, gardening, and their winters in Florida. She loved dancing, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with friends.
Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 5-8 p.m., with Vigil service at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. Funeral Mass will commence 10:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior starting at 9:30 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2026 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 9408 Wilson Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. Msgr. William Duncan will be officiating. In honor of Carmen and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Faith Hospice - Trillium Woods or St. Sebastian Catholic Church.
