Donna was richly blessed in this life through three loving marriages. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Sid Miedema, in 1999, and her special daughter, Carol Miedema, in 2008. Together, Sid and Donna were blessed with four children: Kathy (Duane) Mingerink, Carol Miedema, Sid (Lisa) Miedema, and Scott Miedema. She was further blessed with 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a dear nephew, Doug Tilma, whom Donna welcomed into her home after her sister passed away.
Donna was also loved by her extended family: Erne (deceased) and Kae Miedema; Freda and Bud (both deceased) Zwak; Ed (deceased) and Lorraine Miedema; Ron and Dee Miedema; Ted and Gloria Miedema; Jake and Marcia (deceased) Miedema; and Jane Hoven and Mary Elzinga; along with many nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Laura Elzinga; sister, Gladys Tilma; and brother, Harold Elzinga.
In later years, Donna was blessed with a loving marriage to Pret Van Dyke, sharing four wonderful years together until his passing in 2009 and forming cherished relationships with the Van Dyke family: Randy and Judi Van Dyke; Linda and Rich (deceased) Jager; Diane and Doug Venema; Lori and Brian Driesenga; and his 14 grandchildren.
She was again blessed in marriage to Wayne Brower, and together they shared 12 joyful years of love and companionship until Wayne’s passing in 2024. Donna was also warmly embraced by Wayne’s family, including Scott and Esther Brower; Beth and Lou Brower Hill; and his five grandchildren.
Donna faithfully lived out her calling as a homemaker, pouring love into her family, and also served others by driving a school bus for Pine Rest Children’s Retreat and Grandville Public Schools for many years.
A devoted Christian, Donna’s life was a reflection of Christ’s love. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who demonstrated unwavering grace and compassion. Her warm spirit, genuine kindness, and ever-present smile drew people to her. Donna’s life was marked by unconditional love, always placing others before herself and serving with a joyful heart.
In her final two years, Donna resided at Byron Manor, and her family appreciates the care provided by the staff.
While she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in the promise that she is now at peace in her Savior’s presence, and they look forward to the day they will be reunited with her in Heaven.
